Who?
Selected via a controversial All Woman Shortlist, Kerry McCarthy has had an unremarkable career as the Labour MP for Bristol East since 2005. She was virtually unknown in Westminster and beyond until she was appointed Labour’s “Twitter Tsar” in August 2009.

Why get rid of her then?
Ironically this promotion has been Kerry McCarthy’s downfall. Her new power and responsibility has highlighted her utter incompetence and unsuitability to serve the House of Commons. Leaving aside her deceitful double furniture claims and her utter contempt of the anger caused by the expenses scandal last year, McCarthy has shown herself to be completely unsuitable to serve the people of Bristol East. The KerryOut campaign does not believe her conduct befits a public servant. She constantly mischaracterises her opponents, throws tantrums and when backed into a corner resorts to accusing her opponents of racism or sexism. Few of her followers are from her constituency, and few of her tweets regard her constituency - she is constantly engaging in tribal and trite arguments instead of getting on with her job.
Self proclaimed vegan, McCarthy has attempted to paint herself as the new face of accessible politicians. She is an utter fraud though given the fact that she failed to turn up to the Commons for no fewer than SEVEN votes that would have increased the transparency of Parliament and made her more accountable to her electorate. Incidentally one of the votes she did bother to turn up to was to vote AGAINST external audits of MPs expenses and a block on allowing them to buy more furniture on expenses.
Voting record:
Kerry is a slavish party tool, she has NEVER broken the Labour Whip in her entire dismal career. NOT ONCE. She voted AGAINST an inquiry into Labour’s botched war in Iraq, FOR 42 days detention and without fail FOR ID cards.
How?
To those that might suggest that this is nothing but a vindictive personal attack, of course this is a personal attack, we live in a representative democracy and if one of our representatives is clearly seen to be failing then they must be called out. That’s how the system works. The people of Bristol East deserve better, and there is an another way.
Adeela Shafi has been selected to take on the Tsar in the newly redrawn seat that gives her a real fighting chance to overturn Kerry’s 7k majority. All funds raised by the KerryOut campaign will be for Adeela to spend in this battle. The campaign is not officially endorsed by Adeela Shafi and is completely independent of the Conservative Party machine. The website is maintained, free of charge, by Harry Cole – editor of the political blog torybear.com
Have a look around to see how you could help get KerryOut, be it via a donation, online campaigning, telecanvassing or be pounding the streets of Bristol East. Together we can defeat the very epitome of New Labour nonsense, warped values and delusions that Kerry McCarthy embodies. There are lots of rubbish Labour MPs and rewarding PPCs that deserve similer levels of attention, but where better to start with a grassroots online campaign than the online tsar.
PS. The campaign has so far raised £1300, ironically nothing on what Kerry spent on furnishing her house on the taxpayer:
